The SMTP
Mail Library lets you send
multiple e-mail messages from one report, without invoking your
e-mail client. It can send single
short messages, or build up a longer message and send that when
needed. It can also include formatted HTML and images in
the email message.
This User Function Library has been designed to
send email messages during the processing of a Crystal Report. These
functions will build up a message and place them into the cViewMAIL
outbox.You can then call
cViewMAIL and send the email messages.
It operates in a similar way to our
Outlook UFL. Messages
are sent directly to the SMTP mail server so no Outlook client or
security is invoked. This UFL includes cViewMAIL to send the messages
to the server.

UFLs (User Function Libraries) give Crystal Reports the ability to use
e-mail as a delivery method. This is extremely useful for a long list of
reasons.
For example, e-mail is
ubiquitous, and it's a primary information exchange and storage tool
today. With this functionality, your report recipients can manage their
received reports in their e-mail system. It doesn't take much thinking
to realize this is a "must have" function!

We use the Outlook
version with our Exchange server to process all our orders.
A Crystal report containing the quote, order, and
shipment can be displayed on the screen (optional), but the hidden lines
build the email to send to the correct department as defined by our
accounting software. This builds out a nicely sized and formatted e-mail
with all necessary info. The recipient can preview, edit, and
forward/reply this info without going into the accounting software to
look up the order or print a hard copy. It even sends to our cell
phones.
This is very handy, as we have 17 techs on the
road and being a service center it keeps the paper from piling up.
Crystal can send a message as HTML, but if it contains many fields and
the user tries to edit it like normal mail they get very frustrated.
Chelsea software has bridged that gap. This add-on saved each employee
twenty minutes a day.
