FAQS 1 | 2

I've put some reports into the schedule, but they won't run?
The cViewMANAGER schedule is a list of reports and when they need to run. The Schedule needs to "Start" before this will happen.  Use the Server/Start menu item.

Can cViewMANAGER schedule things other than a Crystal Report?
Yes.  You can also schedule an EXE, BAT and cViewGLOBAL command file.

Do I need Crystal Reports installed on the machine running cViewMANAGER?
cViewMANAGER includes the required Crystal run time files.  We currently have versions of cViewMANAGER that support CR8.5 and CR9 run time files.

Can I see the EULA?
Sure. Right mouseclick here.

I want my report to create a unique file name each time it runs
Yes, you can do this by using the Datestamp feature. Use %d, %m or %h in the output file name.  This only works with Disk Output and doesn't apply to printed or emailed reports.

Can I use the MultiRun and send one recipient an Excel Worksheet and another a PDF Acrobat document?
Yes.  Select "Custom" for the output format and each run can output a different format.

Can I modify the Multirun or List file with a text file editor?
The reason we used a text file for the multirun was so that you could use another program to modify them.  The original requirement was so that we could use a Crystal Report to generate the data needed for the multirun or list.

Can I use the Same Multirun Control file for several reports?
Yes.  The multirun form displays the name of the multirun control file.  This can be changes to another file.  Several Reports can share the same multirun file.

Does cViewMANAGER work with OutlookXP?
cViewMANAGER no longer sends email report via Outlook.  It is a full SMTP client and sends reports directly to the Mail Server.

Will cViewMANAGER work with my MS Exchange Server?
Yes it will.  The Exchange server will need to be configured so that it will accept SMTP relay from the cViewMANAGER machine.  If this isn't acceptable to your SMTP server administrator, then you will need to identify a SMTP server that you can access.

My report is processed but the email message doesn't get sent
There may be several reasons for this.  Use Server/View STMP log and see if anything obvious is revealed in the discussion with the SMTP server.  You may need to increase the timer value in the SMTP configuration form. You may want to use one of our e-mail UFLs to overcome system issues dictated by the company to meet some circumstances such as security or IT infrastructure.

Can I run my scheduled report from a command line or 3rd party program?
Yes you can.  You will need the cViewBATCH utility program

Can I send one report to several printers around my organization?
Yes.  You will need to create a list of printers using the "List" form, and then use the list file as the printer destination in the schedule.

Can a list file include a sub list?
Yes.  Include an entry in the list file of <sublist.lst> and it will be processed correctly. This enables you to create groups of lists and include each one where required. You can go down several levels, but circular references are not permitted.

What is a circular reference?
Where ListA contains an Entry for ListB, ListB contains an entry for ListC, and ListC contains an entry for ListA.  This will identified and the second reference to ListA will be ignored.

How do I control the schedule so that some of my reports print landscape and some print portrait?
The latest version of cViewMANAGER allows you to control page orientation and the number of copies.

Do I get upgrades to cViewMANAGER?

Yes. Annual maintenance and support is available, making these free.

Where we have developed a new version of our product to support a new version of Crystal Reports, we can offer this to you as part of the maintenance agreement and this is included in your annual maintenance fee.

If the maintenance agreement has lapsed, the upgrade is available only by purchasing our product for full price in the normal way.

What are the terms of the maintenance agreement?

Maintenance is 20% of the purchase price and applies annually from the purchase date. The benefits of our maintenance service include:

  1. Any product enhancements
  2. Where we have developed a new version of our product to support a new version of Crystal Reports, we can offer this to you as part of the maintenance agreement.

If your maintenance agreement has lapsed and you would like an upgrade to your product, this can be purchased for full price in the usual way.

Can cViewMANAGER process On Demand Subreports?
On demand subreports are not run at the same time as the main report but are run when requested.  So a scheduled report is not a request for an on demand subreport.  It doesn’t know when/if the on demand subreport is required, so doesn’t process it.

One solution is to make the on demand subreport a separate external report and run that separately in the schedule.  Another solution is to use cView, our report viewer which can view the report with saved data, and if the on Demand subreport is requested, then will process the subreport with the correct values.  But cView needs access to the DB, so that is not a solution for remote users.

What Happens if I schedule two reports for the same time?
cViewMANAGER is a single threaded report processor, so the first report will process, and then the second report will start as soon as the first is completed.

What happens if a scheduled report time is missed?
Once a report is completed processing, the schedule is incremented until a future date is found.  It will not rerun an overdue report.

Does cViewMANAGER support multi value and range parameters?
You can enter multi value parameters, but range parameters are not currently supported.  They will be supported in a future release.

What does "Invalid License File" mean?
All the cView products use a "License.XML" file to unlock the trial version.  While these files have similar formats, they have different unlock codes for each product.  You may have been sent a license file for the wrong product.  Email us and we will send you a new license file.

Is there a physical limit of how many reports can be loaded into the schedule?
Yes.  Currently the limit is 2000 reports in the schedule database.  If this limit is a problem, please contact us and it can be increased if required.

What if I need support?

The first year of support and minor upgrades is free. For subsequent years, we offer an inexpensive solution: cViewMANAGER Maintenance.

What about a warranty?

We have a money back guarantee. If the product does not meet specifications in your environment, we will work with you to put it right. This is effective for the first 3 months.

The money-back guarantee is available in the first month from your purchase.
