Crystal Reports: TopN in a Crosstab

The TopN feature is really useful with groups to display only the top 8 Sales Regions.

We recently discovered that you could also apply the TopN feature to a Crosstab object in your Crystal Report. This could reduce a large crosstab to only the Top 10 rows.

1) Select the Crosstab object in your report;

2) Go to the Report/TopN Sort group expert menu

3) Each Group Row appears as a group in the Expert

4) Select "TopN" or "Bottom N" rather than "All" and specify how many groups you require.

This can only be done on row fields; column fields are not available. You can still have groups with a TopN in your report, and even can put the crosstab object in a group header or footer.
