Krishna Mohan lives and breathes database work. Mohan is a Senior Database Consultant with NewAgeSys, Inc. http://www.newagesys.com. Founded in 1994, NewAgeSys, Inc. provides business intelligence and related consulting services to Fortune 500 companies. NewAgeSys, Inc works with many platforms, systems, and products. Of interest to us is their work with Crystal Reports. Mohan says, "Crystal reports is built into the application and we have a number of canned reports which the users can run on their own. However, there are around 20 reports which we have to run everyday and send to the users." Driving costs down and quality up is an obsession at NewAgeSys, Inc. Mohan looked at the time spent manually running those 20 reports. This wasn't a value-added activity. It wasn't an activity that made good use of the company's intellectual resources. Mohan says, "The weekend reports had to wait until Monday to be run. I just didn't like the idea that our customers would have to start their week waiting for these reports." Mohan says, "We were receiving 100 complaints a week." Though Mohan had already been searching for a better way, this crescendo of complaining meant setting aside time to focus on a solution and get it implemented. NewAgeSys, Inc had earned its awards through excellence and customer satisfaction, and this situation was working against both. Mohan didn't succumb to the common mistake of "doing something just to say you did something" and trading one set of problems for another. His approach, instead, was to accelerate the methodical research process he'd already begun. And that led him to cViewMANAGER. Initially, he was attracted by the features and the price. He downloaded the trial version, and was pleased with its performance. "It is simple to use and was exactly the tool we were looking for." Shortly after that, he made the purchase, scheduled his reports, and saw complaints drop to zero. The quality so integral to the NewAgeSys, Inc. way was restored. And, he'd reduced costs by eliminating a manual process. Mohan says, "We have saved at least $20,000 a year in a consultants time. And of course we cannot put a value to the satisfaction of the users. Their satisfaction is paramount."
Software like this is often buggy, but Mohan did not find
that to be the case with

scheduler fail in the 2 years or so since I started using it."
